About This Spot
Stepping into Purvis' Barber Shop feels like entering a familiar neighborhood retreat where time moves at a comfortable, unhurried pace. Nestled along Old Chemstrand Road in Cantonment, this modest yet welcoming space invites you to take a moment away from the day’s rush. With its quartet of well-worn barber chairs arranged thoughtfully, the atmosphere hums quietly with the gentle buzz of clippers and easy, friendly conversations—creating a rhythm that’s both relaxed and purposeful.
Walking through the door, you’re greeted by a warmth that goes beyond just the lighting or the comfortable chairs. The barbers here are local faces who remember the details that make each visit personal—whether it’s the precise way a young boy’s hair is shaped to suit his growing personality or the steady hand that crafts a clean skin fade with a straight razor, honoring traditions that aren’t as common anymore. There’s a careful attention to detail, a patience that shows up in how the barbers engage, making each cut feel considered rather than rushed.
Though simple in its setup, Purvis' Barber Shop carries a genuine neighborhood spirit. It’s a place where walk-ins are welcomed like old friends, wait times float under the radar, and the exchange is always warm without ever feeling formal. The shop’s rhythm reflects the steady pulse of the community itself: grounded, straightforward, and authentic.
Families find a natural comfort here, with attentive barbers who understand the little things—like tending to a child’s baby hairs with care. For those who appreciate the craft of barbering beyond the usual buzz, the presence of classic tools like the straight razor quietly speaks to a respect for the art, ensuring every cut not only looks sharp but feels thoughtfully done.
Whether you’re a long-time local or just passing through Cantonment, Purvis' Barber Shop offers more than a haircut. It’s an experience of skillful, straightforward service woven into a setting that knows its neighbors by name and by style—where every visit becomes part of a quietly shared story.

Excellent friendly high quality service. Very reasonable price. comfortable atmosphere with 4 chairs so there is little to no wait. I am a 14 year customer. I never had a bad cut.

I've taken my son here nearly twice a month for the last couple of years. A handful of basic styles, for my dude, but always done great. Seen my boy go from booster to full chair. I shave my head - ha, can only praise what they do for him.

Purvis' Barber Shop is a nice locally owned and staffed barber shop in Cantonment. I have been going to the shop for six years now and have had a positive experience every time. Prices are reasonable and they only take cash or check. They do have an ATM inside for customer convenience. Services are walk-in only with nominal wait times and services are quick. Barbers are very friendly and great with kids.

I have trouble w my sons baby hairs other places just leave behind but here they take good care of him every time. Family friendly atmosphere and they always remember us when we come in. I’d recommend them to anyone.

I stopped in today for the very first time and had a great experience. The wait was about 2 minutes at 3:30 on a Thursday so not too bad. I got a skin fade and the barber actually used a straight razor! NOT a zero... NOT a bald fader but an actual straight razor! And not just around the neckline. My experience here was great and I appreciate the detail on my hair.
